Who wouldn't want to live where fishing, cross-country skiing, golf and countless other recreational activities are right in your neighborhood, or just minutes away? Avon's lakes, hills and natural beauty make staying home a vacation!

Located within Avon are three parks and three Spunk Lakes which feature a public beach and public water access. Five other lakes are nearby, each providing plentiful opportunities for fishing, swimming, boating and just plain old relaxing. The Spunk Lakes, named after an Indian Chief, are a fun time for all ages.

St. Cloud, Albany, Cold Spring and Monticello, all within 30 minutes of Avon, each boast a public golf course. The rolling forests surrounding Avon, home to a wide variety of wildlife, are some of the state's prettiest and are perfect for hiking and cross-country skiing. An annual cross-country skiing tour is held on publicly-maintained trails and attracts skiers from thoughout the region.

Horseback riding at area stables in the summer, biking on the scenic Wobegone Trail in the Fall, ice fishing on the lakes in the winter... you can do it all in Avon!
